Pediatric Critical Care Physician - Cohen Children's Medical Center – NYC Suburbs

The Department of Pediatrics at the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) and The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is seeking a full time, board certified/board eligible Pediatric Critical Care physician to join the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.  The candidate will join a group of 16 full or part-time intensivists who cover the 37-bed, tertiary, academic PICU 24/7.

Highlights include:

• The CCMC PICU admits >2600 patients per year in the 37-bed PICU
• We provide care for the full spectrum of pediatric critical illness and utilize all modalities of advanced therapies including ECMO, CKRT, HFOV, HFPV, iNO.  We support robust general pediatric and subspecialty surgical services including neurosurgery, orthopedics, ENT, urology, and cardiothoracic surgery.
• CCMC is the only Level-1 Pediatric Trauma Center on Long Island, with >1000 cases per year.
• CCMC PICU leads a large pediatric critical care transport program, where >3000 patients are transferred to and from CCMC, including the ability to transport patients on ECMO and on high-frequency percussive ventilation.
• Faculty enjoy the training of 7 Pediatric Critical Care Fellows, Pediatric Residents in one of the largest training programs in the country, as well as medical students from the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

Cohen Children’s Medical Center opened in 1983 as the New York metropolitan area’s only hospital designed exclusively for children.  Today, it is the largest pediatric teaching hospital in the region, treating over 230,000 children per year and serving 1.8 million children in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties.  It is the tertiary pediatric medical center of the Northwell Health System and the only Level-1 Pediatric Trauma Center on Long Island.  Cohen Children’s Medical Center is one of the top-rated children’s hospital in New York State and has earned top national rankings for exceptional care in nine pediatric specialties, according to US News & World Report’s 2022-2023 Best Children’s Hospitals.
