Registered Nurse 2 CC- Neuro ICU (Inpatient 6 Critical Care Tower)- FT Nights
Neurology/Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit, also known as the Neuro ICU. We are located on the 6th floor of the Critical Care Tower at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
We are excited of your interest in our unit. Here in the Neuro ICU at Vanderbilt you will find a culture of teamwork with a dedicated drive to deliver the absolute best care possible. The unit has expanded to 25 ICU beds in addition to our 12 Stepdown beds. There is truly no limit to how critically ill our patients can be and/or how busy it can get at any given time. This creates and promotes a team of sharp minded and highly skilled problem solvers that are in constant collaboration across multiple disciplines. Our demographic of patients is very unique and all-encompassing in regard to the many neurological disfunctions, injuries, and disorders that occur. We as leaders on the unit serve our staff in any way possible to maximize their success as both individuals as well as a team. We have a very open-door atmosphere and everyone from our Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and five Clinical Staff Leaders have served as staff nurses within this unit. We have dedicated very much time and effort in creating what the unit is today while constantly seeking opportunities to further improve and evolve, and we are always excited for like-minded individuals to join our team!
We care for adult patients ranging in age from 18 and older who are being treated for a variety of neurological disorders, including acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, subdural and epidural hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, seizures, Guillain-Barre syndrome, myasthenia gravis exacerbation, meningitis and encephalitis, spinal cord injury, cerebrovascular intervention, and brain and spinal tumor resection. Our patients are unique because of their specialized neurological needs.
We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a ten- to twelve-week unit-specific orientation with dedicated preceptors.
