The Division of Trauma/Acute Care Surgery at Bayfront Health Medical Center is seeking to add a full-time surgeon to our service. We currently have 5 full-time surgeons and are looking to add a sixth as we transition to cover Emergency General Surgery and in line with an Acute Care Surgery model. The Division is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and is restructuring clinical coverage responsibilities to focus on work-life integration and professional development. We are a licensed 480 bed facility and we add approximately 3000 patients per year to the trauma registry with about 1400 admissions to the trauma service. We see a broad spectrum of blunt and penetrating trauma. We have a dedicated 16 bed Trauma ICU and a separate Neuro ICU.
Successful candidates would be outstanding clinicians who are interested in quality improvement, educational endeavors to include prehospital and hospital providers. Responsibilities will include coverage of Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care and Emergent General Surgery on a rotational basis with the 5 other surgeons. We have 11 APPs that provide around the clock coverage. Interpersonal skills and teaching ability are vitally important. Requirements include board certification or eligibility in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
