Nurse Practitioner role needed in a heart failure/post surgical procedure patient population unit at Barnes Jewish Hospital. The Nurse Practitioner will work in close collaboration with Cardiac Surgeons in a fast paced environment. At the Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Heart & Vascular Center, our heart surgeons are pioneers in breakthroughs for heart disease treatment. Our expertise in minimally invasive and surgical procedures is unmatched in Missouri and the surrounding region.

Cardiac nursing is an incredibly intensive environment; nurses are on the frontline of saving lives every day. Barnes-Jewish is one of only 17 hospitals, and the only one in Missouri, with heart attack survival rates better than the national average.

The Heart and Vascular Administration department supports the structure for the Heart and Vascular Program and drives the strategic goals and priorities.

Role Purpose

The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized patient care area. This position assesses, diagnose, prescribes, initiates plan of care and evaluates outcomes within the scope of a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s).
