Seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Emergency Medicine physician for a Per Diem role for Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center. As a key member of the Emergency Department for this 25-bed critical-access hospital, you will play a vital role in the overall health for multiple communities throughout the entire region. You will be joining a tight-knit and community-oriented team while also receiving support from the larger Providence Medical Group organization whenever needed. This is an opportunity to provide high-quality care to an underserved population while living in one of the most naturally stunning areas in the state of Alaska.
Where You'll Work
Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center is the sole provider of acute and emergency care for Kodiak Island. Accredited by The Joint Commission and designated as a Level IV trauma center by the State of Alaska, this 25-bed critical-access hospital plays an indispensable role in the lives of 14,000 Kodiak residents, the Coast Guard base and neighboring villages. With a state-of-the-art MRI and 64-slice CT, this hospital receives high marks, and providers are able to offer advanced care.
Where You'll Live
Kodiak is famous for its fishing, huge Kodiak brown bears and lush mountains. The Kodiak Islanders also pride themselves on lesser-known highlights, such as excellent public and private schools, organized youth sports, several churches, museums and dozens of annual community events. The island's tight-knit population of 14,000 is rich in cultural diversity, including Alaska Natives, Asians, Hispanics and Pacific Islanders. Within minutes of the city, you can be beachcombing, hiking in a magnificent forest or salmon fishing in a pristine stream.
Who You'll Work For
Providence is a nationally recognized, comprehensive health care organization spanning seven states with a universal mission - to provide compassionate care to all who need its services, especially the poor and vulnerable. Its 119,000-plus caregivers/employees serve in 51 hospitals, more than 800 clinics and a comprehensive range of health and social services.
