The role you’ll contribute:

The Unit Clerk / Telemetry technician is a dual function position with the Primary responsibility to observe cardiac rhythms using a central monitoring system and the prompt reporting changes in cardiac rhythm to primary nurse and/or charge nurse.  Secondarily, this position provides secretarial duties for the smooth running of the assigned patient care unit in accordance with the Hospitals' mission, physicians and patient expectations.  All other duties are tertiary to the Primary and Secondary duties outlined herein.

The value you’ll bring to the team: 

•        Accurately interprets rhythm, rate and morphology of strips.
•     Prepares and maintains patient record from admission to discharge through documentation of rhythm strips at predetermined intervals and with each change in rhythm. 
•        Maintains responsibility for monitoring equipment Manages unit supplies, activities, time, and other resources in a cost effective manner to reduce waste and unnecessary expenditures
•        Remains at the Telemetry monitoring station at all times unless handoff completed to another qualified staff member who assumes coverage with primary responsibility for telemetry monitoring duties.
•        Assures telemetry hardware is cleaned and returned to assigned location.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: 

• Minimum of a High School diploma  or equivalent
• Prior completion of Basic EKG course with passing certificate / or certificate of completion prior to end of 90-day orientation
• BLS -condition of employment
