Assistant Professor, Academic Track (Clinical)/Tenure TrackDuties and Responsibilities:The Critical and Acute Care Division within the Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota is seeking a qualified individual for an academic track (clinical) or tenure track position as Assistant Professor. Rank will be determined based on the qualifications and experiences of the selected candidate.Caseload will include trauma, surgical critical care, and general surgery cases. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills in general surgery and critical care with responsibilities to include:* Participating as the attending staff in one or more of the intensive care units associated with the Division* Participation as a Surgeon or Intensivist at one of our partner facilities* Instructing of medical students, residents, and fellows* Full participation in departmental activities including but not limited to grand rounds, CEU quality meetings, Promotion and Tenure committee meetings, and faculty meetings* For qualified individuals, up to 20% FTE for research efforts may be available.Applications Instructions:Your complete application should include:* Your curriculum vitae* Cover letter* Contact information for at least 3 professional referencesPlease be sure that your application materials highlight any clinical, instructing, research, and leadership experience as relates to this position.All applications must be submitted directly to the University of Minnesota Employment Center for consideration.
Requirements:* MD degree or equivalent* Must have or be able to obtain board certification in Surgery and Critical Care* Must have or be able to obtain a Medical License in the state of Minnesota* Demonstrated commitment to providing quality and conscientious patient care* Proven ability to work collaboratively and collegiality with staff and partners* Demonstrated commitment to instructing and research.
