Responsibilities:Follows protocols appropriate for the practice. Routinely demonstrates proper technique in operating all office equipment. Maintains clean/stocked patient care area. Completes office support tasks accurately and within required time frames. Returns and retrieves messages timely and utilizes the EMR inboxes to sort messages. Patient Care Assistant Skill Proficiency. Assists nurses/techs with patient preparation for examinations, treatments and/or procedures. Prioritizes. Demonstrates initiative. Readily seeks out duties and works with all staff to render assistance. Completes all duties in a positive and productive manner. Takes an active role in performance improvement. Conscious of biohazard safety as it relates to the job - specimen handling, wearing of appropriate PPE - ie. changing of gloves between patients, in accordance with OSHA standards. Obtains demographic and insurance information necessary for medical records identification and billing process. Uses the 2 identifiers, patient name and date of birth. Inputs registration information into computer system, verifies accuracy of data entered, pre-reg accounts, and scans appropriate documents. Processes electronic medical record. Follows up with referring physician’s office to collect additional records as needed. Understands how to manage Medical Records in accordance with HIPAA regulations for patients and other facilities requesting medical records. Verifies Insurance eligibility and medical necessity, using websites (HDX) and computer applications. Verifies if patient needs referral. Daily reconciliation of co-pays. Performs all other duties as assigned.
