Summary:This position is responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of the unit patient requiring specialized skills in intermediate care nursing and directing the team members. This position requires knowledge of departmental and hospital policies relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultive associations are inherent in this position.
Other information:Minimum one year Emergency Department or Critical Care experience preferred.Must complete Point of Care Testing training as part of Department Orientation.
Responsibilities:Facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Patient Plan of Care and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team. Technical Skills. Critical Thinking. Prioritization. Equipment Operation. Initiative. Evaluates test results reported immediately. Assess patient safety facts and identifies those patients requiring specific safety devices. Documents patient assessments accurately and correctly within the specified time at admission, transfer, and discharge. Collects adequate and correct blood/urine specimens from patients as ordered by physicians, using proper technique and equipment. Correctly labels specimens and processes. Ensures appropriate delivery of specimens to the lab via courier or specimen pick up from outside agencies. Educational needs of patient. Documents assessment on multidisciplinary form and modifies as needed.
Credentials:Essential:* RN - Registered Nurse* BLS - Basic Life Saving certification* ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support* NIH - Stroke Certification
