The Trauma Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all services required to meet the individual health needs of admitted trauma patients. The Trauma Coordinator applies expertise in trauma and facilitates: patient care, multidisciplinary communication and collaboration, initiation of new consultation, quality assessment/audit; and leads/participates in education, data collection/reporting and research. The Trauma Coordinator utilizes available resources to promote quality and cost effective outcomes.Minimum QualificationsEducation/specialized training/licensure: a. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. b. Certification by the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM) as Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) Coding Specialist is required within two (2) years. Certification by the American Trauma Society Registrar Certification Board (ATSRCB) as a Trauma Registrar required (within 2 years) for LBJ only. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certifications preferred.c. Current License or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas.Work experience: Two (2) or more years critical care and/or emergency department experience. Special RequirementsCommunication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking), Writing /Composing (Correspondence / Reports)Other Skills: Analytical, Mathematics, Medical Terms, P.C., Statistical, Word ProcWork Schedule: Flexible Other Requirements: Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to read and interpret medical records and laboratory reports. Accuracy and thoroughness; ability to work independently.
