University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Critical Care team in a supervisory role responsible for the growing APP team in our practice.
Supervise and manage multiple PA/APRN critical care advanced practice providers with an emphasis on either medical ICU, surgical/CV ICU OR West Bank mixed med/surg ICU advanced practice staff.
Manage coordination of recruiting, hiring, onboarding, orientation, and training of new APP hires to the domain; management of staff performance, coaching, and supervision of skill development for critical care APPs. Coordinates and approves schedules, completes performance reviews and goal setting.
Participate in ongoing collaboration with the APP domain manager, administrators, medical director, and other stakeholders; accountable for promoting program changes to optimize the efficiency and financial viability of the NP/PA role.
Provide inpatient care for critically ill patients while working with a team in a strong interdisciplinary culture. Our APPs are respected as a key team member regardless of patient population or location.
This position will spend approximately 10% of their time on supervisory responsibilities and 90% delivering patient care.
Spend approximately 70% working day shifts, either 10 or 12 hour shifts. Approximately 30% working 12 hour night shifts.
A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.
Eligible or is nationally certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP.
Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license through the Board of Nursing (NP's).
Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
Have a minimum of 3 years full-time experience in critical care.
Able to provide excellent mentoring and demonstrate proven organizational skills.
Have some knowledge of coaching, staffing, performance evaluation, and scheduling.
Ability to engage and motivate professionals.
Demonstrate ability to work independently in a clinical setting with superior decision-making skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to critique, provide insight and collaboratively develop creative solutions to practice changes which promote APRN/PA practice and productivity.
Advanced study in leadership and management.
APRN or PA with 1 or more years of clinical supervisory/personnel management experience.
Ability to grow practice/retain team by training and coaching APRNs/PAs to provide exceptional patient care.
