Perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures asdefined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice,performing work in accordance with physician orders in the neonatal,pediatric and adult patient populations.
Perform all duties and responsibilities required of a Respiratory CarePractitioner I.Evaluate appropriateness of medicalorders .Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilatormodalities.Profic ient in the application of Non-InvasivePositive Pressure Ventilation (NP PV); Continuous Positive AirwayPressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Air way Pressure(BiPAP)Perform endotracheal intubation under the observation ofa Supervisor or Advanced Practitioner. Performextubations.Serve as me mber of the code/ emergency team.Administer medical gases.Insert nasogas tric and orogastrictubes.Perform tracheotomy tube changes. Perform capno graphymonitoring.Transport patients requiring mechanical ventilationor a irway protection.Interpret clinical data to optimizepatient clinical obj ectives.Participate in clinical rounds withphysicians, nurses and other health care providersAssist withBronchoscopy. Assist with orientation an d training of Level IIRT.Assure safe operations of devices in theMRI.Qua lified for certification in the hyperbaric chamber ifapplicable to the i nstitution scope of practice
Knowledge necessary to make appropriate clinical decisions andi nteraction relative to the specific age of a patient.Skillsvalidation/ce rtification of competencies for the duties andresponsibilities required for a Level I RT.Skills validation /certifications of competencies for t he duties and responsibilities ofthis level.Work involves contact with p atients of all ages, familymembers, physicians, nursing, and all other m embers of the health careteam.Work is performed in all areas of the hosp ital.Work mayrequire lifting or pushing in excess of 30 pounds.Required to carryemergency airway bag weighing approximately 20 pounds.Work requi reswalking, running, climbing and bending.Customer service andcommunicat ion expertise.

Six months to one year of clinical experience following graduation from a respiratory care program.
North Carolina State Licensure Registry ( RRT) by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRPS) if applicable to institution
