JOB SUMMARY: The Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) is accountable for supporting patient care activities, under the supervision of a registered nurse, in the clinic setting and on inpatient nursing units. The PCA I works closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure patient care needs are met. The PCA I performs patient care activities, as delegated, and adheres to patient safety measures. The PCA I is competent in the performance of basic patient care activities, medical terminology, communication, organizational, and computer skills. The PCA I demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Education/Licensure/Specialized Training: a.Education:High School diploma or the equivalent or technical skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.b.Licensure/Certification: Nursing/Medical Assistant Certification required. Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program. Other certificates as required by unit/service/clinic.2.Work Experience: Six (6) months - One (1) year related clinical experience preferred.3.Skills/Knowledge: Mental Health First Aid within 90 days of hire. EKG, and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required, as applicable to specialty area within 6 months of hire. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 1.Communication Skills:Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact) 2.Other Skills: Medical Terms PC 3.Work Schedule: Weekends Holidays Flexible
