Administerincentive breathing devices.Perform nasotracheal and artificialairway suctio ning.Perform CPR and bag- maskventilation.Perform pulse oximetry monitor ing.Performarterial blood gas punctures.Perform bedside pulmonarymechani cs.Diagnostic cardiopulmonary procedures, pulmonaryfunction studies, EKG s and cardiac monitoring.Transportpatients within the hospital. Verify p hysicianorders.Assure correct set-up, safety and function of allequipmen t/ supplies necessary in the provision of patientcare.Assure adherence t o all infectious disease standards inthe delivery of all patient care pr ocedures.Recognizes lifethreatening situations and initiates appropriate response.Understands pharmacological indications, dosages andresponse to adverse drug reactions. Makes patient care assessmentsaccording to acce pted protocols.Provides education to patients,families, physicians, nurs ing and other members of the health careteam.Monitors response to all th erapy.Documents in thepatient medical record.Communicates all pertinentclinicalinformationParticipates in quality improvementactivities.Perform routine cleaning and maintenance ofrespiratory equipment. Completion of a 2 year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree or the equivalent) or currently enrolled in an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program, and registry eligible.

North Carolina State Licensure or North Carolina State Provisional License, Certification by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) if graduate. Certification in Basic Life Support ( BLS), and any other applicable certifications applicable to the institution.
