Duke Nursing Highlights:
Independently plan and provide professional nu rsing care for patients inaccordance with physician orders and establish edpolicies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and famil ies inaccordance with the scope ofthe RN as defined by the North Caroli naBoard of Nursing.Nurses hired into this limited benefited classificati onwill commit towork a minimum number of hours. Clinical Nurse- FP, PRN will be assignedto the Internal Staffing Resource Pool and will float th emultipleareas. Compensation is a flat rate that is based on years of ex perience.
Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing process for pati ents in accordance with physicianorders and established policies and pro cedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize the plan ofca re based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs and response tocar e.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed andunlic ensed care providers.Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of n ursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of patient s or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate corrective actionto maintain the environment ofcare including equipment and material resourc es.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requiredco mpetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriateassistance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and support the development o f other staff and formallearners.Participate in the identification of cl inical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities and in perfor mance improvement activities.Perform other related duties incidentalto t he work described herein.
- Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, licensed practicalnur se and NCA- Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursingproce ss- Knowledge of professional theory, practice and procedure- Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically illpatients and their fam ilies- Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships- Abl e to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors,healthcare te am, physicians, administrators, leadership and others- Able to teach pat ients and families in accordance with thenursing plan of care- Able to u se sensory and cognitive functions to process andprioritize information, treatment, and follow-up- Able to use fine motor skills- Competent in B LS and/or other specialized life supportrequirements designated bywork a rea- Able to record activities, document assessments, plan of care,inter ventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status- Able touse com puter and learn new software programs- Able to document and communicate pertinent information using computerand/or paper documentation tools- Ab le tonavigate the entity to provide clinical care for patients-Able to withstand prolonged standing and walking- Able to remain focused and org anized- Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involvedinadminis tering routine and special treatments to patients-Working knowledge of i nfection control procedures and safetyprecautions- Working knowledge and completion of appropriate JCAHO and otherregulatory requirements
Work requires graduationfrom an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
2 years of appropriate clinical experience required.
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
