Job SummaryThe Lyndon B Johnson (LBJ) Emergency Center (EC) Critical Care Transport Nurse (CCTN) serves as a frontrunner of the multi-disciplinary critical care transport team (CCT) and coordinates the execution of an immediate critical care response encompassing detection, activation, assessment, stabilization, disposition and evaluation of acutely ill patients who ultimately require a safe on-ground transfer from one health care facility to another. During transport, the CCTN functions to assess, monitor, intervene, and stabilize critically ill patients during transport in consultation with the LBJ EC faculty and under the direction of the Harris Health System Emergency Medical System (EMS) medical director. The CCTN facilitates team huddles, debriefings and evaluation of the CCT transports as well as contributes to quality and performance improvement initiatives in conjunction with ongoing education and training to staff. The CCTN serves as a clinical expert and consultant to support the healthcare system in providing patient-centered, culturally-competent, outcome-focused critical care transports while aligning practice with nursing professional rules and regulations, state and national EMS accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.Minimum QualificationsDegrees: Bachelor of Nursing Degree OR Associate Degree in Nursing with a Bachelor of ScienceMaster's Degree in Nursing preferredLicenses & Certifications:Registered Nurse; Licensed to practice professional nursing in the state of TexasNIHSS Stroke certification, ACLS, PALS, TNCC and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Certified Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN) or Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) AND Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN); Certification within one year of hire.Work Experience: Three (3) years of Emergency Center or ICU experience that includes 4000 critical care hours Management Experience: One (1) year of Critical Care Lead experience;Emergency Center or Intensive CareCommunication Skills: Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)Writing/CorrespondenceWriting/ReportsProficiencies: MS Word, Personal ComputerJob AttributesKnowledge/Skills/Abilities: Analytical Abilities, Mathematics, Medical Terminology KnowledgeWork Schedule: Flexible, Holidays, Weekends
