Job SummaryThe Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P) supports nursing and medical staff in delivery of patient care services and coordinates patient workflow within the Emergency Center. The EMT-P is an individual whom is certified by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as minimally proficient to provide advanced life support which includes initiation and maintenance of certain procedures under a physician's supervision. The EMT-P facilitates unit activities and business processes according to guidelines, practices safety measures and infection control standards. EMT-P also participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.Minimum QualificationsSchool Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of Texas Department of State Health Services (TX DSHS) approved EMS training.Licenses & Certifications: Adv. Cardiac Life Support -Through American Heart Association(AHA)Basic Life Support - Through American Heart Association(AHA)Emergency Med Tech - Paramedic;Currently registered with the TX DSHS as certified Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic or Licensed ParamedicLicense - Certified Critical Transport within two years if not held at time of appointmentPediatric Adv.
