Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.
The laboratory of Dr. Anupam Patgiri in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at Emory School of Medicine is seeking two motivated postdoctoral fellows in the areas of (a) chemical biology and protein engineering and (b) metabolism and mitochondrial biology.
The lab is investigating -
(1) Chemical tools to study cellular metabolism and mitochondrial biology. One postdoctoral fellow will develop small-molecule approaches to modulate mitochondrial homeostasis in health and disease. This fellow will hold a PhD in chemistry or related fields.
(2 ) Pathophysiology and therapeutic strategies for inborn errors of metabolism (IEM). IEM are a class of more than 1200 rare, inherited metabolic dysfunctions, most of which still lack FDA-approved therapies. One postdoctoral fellow will develop cell-culture models of IEM and explore small-molecule and engineered enzymes as potential therapies. These studies will involve gene KO in mammalian cells, protein purification, and metabolomics using lab's own QTOF LCMS. This fellow will hold a PhD in cell biology/ metabolism/ biochemistry or related fields.
