Unit Description:

• • The Cardiac Medical Intensive Care Unit is comprised of 40 patient beds and the largest critical care unit in the AdventHealth system. Located on the 5^th Floor of the Ginsburg Tower on the Orlando Campus.  The highly skilled staff of our unit provide care to some of the most acutely ill patients in Central Florida. We provide care to a broad spectrum of patients that include those with advanced heart failure, ventricular assist devices, pre and post heart and lung transplantation, pulmonary hypertension, sepsis, cardiac arrest, and various other critically acute conditions.  Our talented staff is thoroughly trained in over 20 specialty skills. This is in conjunction with our amazing interdisciplinary team consisting of critical care physicians, cardiologist, respiratory therapy, registered dietitians. Daily rounds are conducted so that disciplines come together to coordinate patient care priorities, establish daily goals, and plans for discharge.
  • Training opportunities for experienced Registered Nurses that are looking to grow into a higher acuity care unit such as our Cardiac ICU/Medical ICU.
  • Serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America
  • AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country

The role you’ll contribute: 

The Registered Nurse entering a training program is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age-specific groups. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department.  Graduate nurses and experienced nurses entering a training program will be under the direct supervision of a preceptor for all principal duties and responsibilities during the training program with eventual transition to independent practice after successful training program completion. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. 

• Program Specifics
  • Our program incorporates comprehensive body systems modules including anatomy and physiology, various body systems conditions, diagnostics, nursing care and treatment. This online approach provides the basic didactic critical care content with educational activities that is reinforced in clinical experience with a preceptor. The program may be offered at any of our 7 campuses (dependent on patient population unit needs).  Kindly apply to your campus/ patient population of interest and the appropriate recruiter will contact you.

    • Blended didactic Online and precepted clinicals
    • Shift flexibility desired as shifts are not guaranteed
    • Successful EKG required

*Terms: 24 month Full Time Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation

Sign-on Eligibility:

• Applicable experience required.
• Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not eligible. 

Relocation Eligibility:

• Must live 50 miles outside of campus address.

What Will You Need:        

 Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing
• Minimum of six (6) months experience
• Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

 Education and Experience Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
• Professional certification
