Duke Nursing Highlights:
Independently plan and provide professional nursi ng care for patients inaccordance with physician orders and established policies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and familie s inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.Nurses hired into this limited benefited classification will commit towork a minimum number of hours. Clinical Nurse-FP, PRN w ill be assignedto the Internal Staffing Resource Pool and will float the multipleareas. Compensation is a flat rate that is based on years of ex perience.
Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing process for pat ients in accordance with physicianorders and established policies and pr ocedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs and response to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed andun licensed care providers.Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery o f nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of pati ents or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment ofcare including equipmentand materialres ources.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requir edcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriateassist ance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and support the developme nt ofother staff and formallearners.Participate in the identification o f clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities and in pe rformance improvement activities.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, licensed practic alnurse and NCA- Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process- Knowledge of professional theory, practice and procedure- Abil ity toassess nursing needs of acute and chronically illpatients and the ir families- Able to independently seek out resources and work collabora tively- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship s- Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors,healthc are team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others- Able to tea ch patients and families in accordance with thenursing plan of care- Abl e to use sensory and cognitive functions to process andprioritize inform ation, treatment, and follow-up- Able to use fine motor skills- Competen t in BLS and/or other specialized life supportrequirements designated by work area- Able to record activities, document assessments, plan of car e,interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status- Able to use computer and learn new software programs- Able to document and comm unicate pertinent information using computerand/or paper documentation t ools- Able to navigate the entity to provide clinical care for patients- Able to withstand prolonged standing and walking- Able to remain focuse d and organized- Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved inadministering routine and special treatments to patients-Working know ledge of infection control procedures and safetyprecautions- Working kno wledge and completion of appropriate JCAHO and otherregulatory requireme nts
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
2 years of appropriate clinical experience required.
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
