WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for a Board-Certified Academic Gastroenterologist to work in a hospital-based position covering our inpatient consultative GI service. Â This physician will mentor medical students, medical residents, and our five GI fellows. Also, he/she would perform most of the GI procedures generated from the emergency department and the inpatient consult service. Skills in ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound would be especially welcomed.
We believe this would be an ideal position a for academic gastroenterologist who has medical school junior faculty experience and who wishes to move into private practice but prefers an academic, teaching environment.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
Schedule: Monday â“ Friday
Rotating evening and weekend call 1:4. Fellows take first call
Inpatient volume can be as many as 15 â“ 20 patients per day
3 dedicated modern GI procedure rooms
Teaching experience required
5 GI Fellows within the Gastroenterology program
1 GI Fellow rotates on the hospital service monthly.Â Fellow and rotating IM residents see consults then present to attending
Attending does all procedures generated by the hospital service
13 Fellowship/Residency Programs at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields with 154 post graduate trainees
WHO WE ARE:
Franciscan Health Olympia Fields is the largest academic medical center in the south Chicago suburbs. We sponsor ACGME accredited post graduate medical education programs in General Internal Medicine, and four other Internal Medicine subspecialty areas besides GI. Additionally, we have programs in general surgery, orthopedics, emergency medicine, diagnostic radiology, and urology.
The total number of post-graduate trainees for the 2021 academic year is one hundred fifty- four (154). We also host clinical rotations for medical students and other allied health professionals from Midwestern University and the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The patient mix in our community is both racially and financially diverse. Â The complexity and acuity of disease presenting through our very large Emergency Department is simply amazing and ensures a robust and intellectually stimulating practice experience for staff and trainees alike.
