Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center brings acute inpatient medical services to communities in Cumberland, Perry, and York counties. The facility, features 108 private inpatient beds and an attached outpatient medical office building. SUMMARY OF POSITION:Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, Respiratory Therapists perform the day-to-day activities of the Respiratory Services Department and all of its satellites with a focus of care delivery to the critical areas of the Health System (Emergency Department, Intensive Care units). They perform patient assessments and conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures such as arterial blood gas draws, and implement appropriate modalities accordingly.RTs collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes consistent with evidence-based practice and provide education to patients and families regarding procedures and disease states. In addition, they respond to emergency situations promptly (i.e. code blue, trauma, rapid response, etc), maintaining professionalism at all times and remain focused in high energy/intense situations without losing the ability to communicate appropriately.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Associate Degree or equivalent experience (2 years)Graduate of an approved Respiratory program including clinical experience or prior work experience.Requires RRT graduate of a COARC accredited program in respiratory therapy with registry eligibility upon graduation.To be eligible for employment, individual must have successfully completed the RRT exam and possess or have verification of temporary permit or permanent license.Must maintain AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and participate in departmental in-service programs.Must maintain current PA State license and NBRC credentialsMust satisfy department orientation standards.ABOUT CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA: We are proud to possess a vibrant urban area surrounded by small town rural communities which affords exceptional cultural opportunities including the Harrisburg Symphony, Allenberry Resort & Playhouse and The Chambersburg Community Theater, museums, Jubilee Day (oldest 1 day street fair on the east coast), farmer's markets and some of the finest dining in the region.
