SUMMARY OF POSITION:Assesses patient needs and abilities, and developing treatment plans to facilitate improved patient functioning/symptom resolution. Provides individual, family, couples and groups psychotherapy as deemed clinically appropriate. Participates with the Division of Psychiatry Team and all other team members where program planning as required. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Penn State Health in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfaction. Works under the direction of the Operations Manager, Psychiatrist or AVP of Psychiatry.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Evaluates the ongoing biopsychosocial needs of patients, identifying needs/problems and determining a treatment planProvides psychotherapies and case management to assigned patients as well as input regarding the care of program patientsEngages as a primary therapist or co-therapist in group therapy to psychiatric patients and as the primary therapist in individual, families, and couple therapiesObtains pertinent data in accordance with program and regulatory standardsUpholding agency policies and standards as well as ethical standards of appropriate disciplineCollaborates with outpatient and inpatient teams to provide triage evaluation and crisis interventionParticipates in activities to integrate service delivery throughout the Division of Psychiatry, i.e., committees, teams, meetings, etc.Participates in program evaluation and performance improvement activities for the Division of PsychiatryParticipates in professional conferences and training provided by the Division of PsychiatryParticipates in education of students and other professionalsPerforms other duties which the employee is qualified to perform as requested or assigned by emergency or other operational reasonSPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES:Participates in research process as indicated by the needs of the Division of PsychiatryParticipates in professional conferences and training provided by the Division of PsychiatryParticipates in education of students and other professionalsCOMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING-Knowledge of theories and methodologies for psychological counseling; ability to conduct a planned counseling interaction and design a counseling process to facilitate clients' progress toward meeting counseling goals and objectives.PSYCHOTHERAPY-Knowledge of psychotherapeutic models, theories and methodologies; ability to implement psychotherapeutic programs based on the principles and procedures of mental health and related disciplines to increase an individual's sense of well-being.HEALTH CARE POLICY AND ETHICS COMPLIANCE-Knowledge of health care policies for all clinical practices and applicable laws and regulations governing proper clinical practice; ability to demonstrate ethical behavior in diverse situations.COMMUNICATION SKILLS-Demonstrates oral, written, and electronic communications skillsHEALTHCARE INDUSTRYTIME MANAGEMENT-Time management refers to a range of skills, tools, and techniques used to manage time when accomplishing specific tasks, projects and goals.TEAM PLAYER-Must be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.INDEPENDENT WORK-Demonstrates ability to work independently or with limited supervisionEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Master's Degree in social work, psychology, nursing or other related discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of three years related experience requiredAppropriate professional-related Pennsylvania licensure requiredPrevious treatment experience with individual, group, or family psychotherapy requiredWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS*:Work performed in clinical environment-Universal PrecautionsMay be required to work multiple shifts and weekends*The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all-inclusive.
