Chair of Pediatrics
Nationwide Children’s Hospital
Nationwide Children’s Hospital, named once again to the Top 10 Honor Roll on U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals,” announces an exceptional opportunity for a nationally recognized physician leader to serve as the Chair of Pediatrics. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join one of America’s largest not-for-profit freestanding pediatric health care systems as Nationwide Children’s launches a progressive five-year $3.3 billion commitment to transform health care outcomes for all children.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Nationwide Children’s and to the Dean of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, the Chair of Pediatrics is a critical leadership role and member of the senior leadership team, jointly guiding a comprehensive, integrated child health delivery system. The Chair serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Department of Pediatrics, responsible to the faculty, and charged with leading the development and enhancement of departmental clinical, educational, and research activities, in alignment with the strategy, goals and directions of Nationwide Children’s. The Chair will provide visionary leadership of the department and participate in Nationwide Children’s strategic planning to improve the quality of clinical, educational, and research programs. The Department Chair also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Department’s practice plan, the Pediatric Academic Association (PAA). Vital to the success of this leader will be embracing the One Team values of Nationwide Children’s in theory and in practice.
Nationwide Children’s is a full service, acute care, pediatric teaching hospital with 549 licensed beds on-site and the largest neonatal network in the country (130-beds are at off-site facilities). Nationwide Children’s has Level I trauma designation, is an American Burn Association / American College of Surgeons designated Burn Center, a CARF accredited rehabilitation program, and a new, $50M Behavioral Health Pavilion that includes a 9-story pavilion with comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, critical assessment and treatment services. The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the Top 10 NIH-funded freestanding pediatric research facilities in the United States.
The successful candidate will be nationally recognized, with an excellent track record of leadership, academic productivity and mentorship of trainees and junior faculty within a leading pediatric organization. Current Board certification in pediatrics, and/or a medical subspecialty, eligibility for an Ohio medical license and credentials for appointment for an academic appointment at The Ohio State University are required.
