Ideal candidates for this position should be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine through Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine or dual boarded in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics.
Two tracks are available for this role, one is a clinician educator track and the other is a purely clinical track. Educational/clinical/translational scholarship and opportunities are encouraged and available. The position offers a competitive salary, bonus plan and an excellent benefits package. Overnight shifts are available for additional compensation.
Nationwide Children’s hospital is the largest pediatric hospital in the country with 468 beds. The medical staff includes over 500 full-time faculty of The Ohio State School of Medicine. The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) has primary responsibility for the care of patients in Nationwide Children’s Emergency Department, which is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center with more than 50 faculty members and approximately 90,000 patient visits per year. The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine has oversight for six off-site Urgent Care locations which combined with the ED results in an annual volume of 234,000. In addition we have opened a freestanding off-site Emergency Department.
We have robust research infrastructure support within Emergency Medicine. We are one of six lead nodes comprising the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), the first federally-funded pediatric emergency medicine research network in the United States. The Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the Top 10 National Institutes of Health-funded free-standing pediatric research facilities in the U.S., supporting basic, clinical, translational and behavioral health research.
We have one of the largest PEM Fellowship programs in the country (4-5 fellows per year). We have one of only two ACGME approved joint PEM/Child Abuse fellowships.
