The Medical ICU Medical Receptionist supports the delivery of patient care by providing clerical and receptionist services to patients, families, visitors, staff, physicians, departments that support patient care, and all other customers of a Patient Care Unit with regular guidance. Facilitates efficient workflow, supports appropriate use of technology, and fosters effective communication.
Our unit specializes in adult general intensive care for patients with a wide variety of diseases and conditions that include (but not limited to) pulmonary diseases, drug overdose, GI bleeds, acute respiratory failure, and sepsis. What attracts nurses to our unit is that each shift is a new adventure that brings new challenges.
Our patient focus is on patient safety, including families in the care of patients, stabilizing acute processes, and caring for the critically ill.
A typical shift for our nurses includes providing daily care to an average of two patients, working with the team to develop a plan of care for the patient, and conversing with the patient's family to include them in their family member's care. Being involved in shared governance and decision making for the unit is also a typical part of the nurse's shift.
We pride ourselves on our team collaboration through the shared governance structure of our unit and that our nurses are active participants in clinical-based research.
Full-time (36 hours/week), variable shift (7p-7a)
