Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in General Surgery. Surgical Critical Care board certification/board eligibility is preferred. The predominant criteria for appointment are: excellence in clinical care and a commitment to research, teaching, and institutional service. Candidates should be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above.
Surgeons in the Rush Department of Surgery's Section of Acute Care Surgery & Surgical Critical Care (ACS&SCC) provide lifesaving medical and surgical care for critically ill patients. Patients with acute surgical diseases receive comprehensive care from ACS&SCC surgeons, including their evaluation in the emergency department, non-operative and operative management, and supportive care in the intensive care unit (ICU). The ACS&SCC service also provides advanced acute and elective wound care for patients with acute and chronic wounds.
