POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for the effective delivery and management of patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice. This includes assessment and reassessment, identification of problems and strengths, planning of interventions and the evaluation and documentation of outcomes of the nursing care provided. This includes the involvement of the patient and/or significant other (s) and is in collaboration with the healthcare team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient(s) as indicated.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Communication and collaboration with all members of the hospital, community, families of patients, volunteers, visitors, and students.
EDUCATION: Valid RN license required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position and its location. For more specifics, refer to functional job descriptions located in H.R.
EXPERIENCE: One year Medical/Surgical, Specialty or Critical Care area experience preferred.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Initiates leadership in directing personnel and coordinating activities in the care of patients. As a member of the healthcare team the RN is responsible for coordinating the duties and responsibilities assigned to the Patient Care Associate (PCA) to facilitate service to patients in a timely manner.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION: 1. Currently licensed as RN in the State of MA. 2. Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS AND LEVEL OF AUTONOMY: Works within the defined Scope of Practice. Reports to Nurse Manager. In departments without Nurse manager, reports to Department Manager and Department Head.
