The Nurse Manager assures the provision of nursing care services in collaboration with other health professionals. This unit is a 33-bed Adult Med/Surg unit that provides care to adult and geriatric medical patients. R3E works closely with the Hospitalist physicians and the Hildreth Teaching Service Residents. Patients are commonly admitted for a multitude of different medical diagnosis ranging from infections, COPD, Pneumonia, sepsis, gastrointestinal complications, substance abuse withdrawal, diabetic complications and more.
24/7 accountability for planning and comprehensive operations of assigned department
Demonstrates clinical proficiency in current practice and knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards within the field of nursing
Able to implement sound business and human resource management plans
Reports to the Division Director
Assumes fiscal responsibility for unit management.
Develops, monitors and evaluates personnel, operations and capital budgets
Identifies and implements value enhancement opportunities
Advocates for resources essential to support quality care and service
Engages direct care staff in analyzing data to guide budget development and monitoring of resource allocation
Demonstrates effective human resource management
Manages the annual goal setting and performance evaluation process
Manages work performance and behavior of staff; implements timely performance improvement plans and steps for corrective action
Bachelor of Science in Nursing - required
Master of Science in Nursing and/or MBA - preferred
Previous unit director experience - preferred
Experience implementing and leading new initiatives
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
