Assume responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned patientsunder the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in pat ient carearea. Provides nursing services to patients and families in acc ordancewith the scope of the LPN as defined by the North Carolina Board ofNursing.
Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patients under thesupervision of a registered nurse or physician. Nursing care is guidedby the physician orders and th e nursing plan of care. Patient responseto care is reported to a registe red nurse for evaluation, interventionandmodification of the plan ofca re. Assist other health care personnelin the delivery of patient care.As sist physicians and other nursing personnel in the performance ofvarious diagnostic procedures.Evaluate nursing care with emphasis on nursing pr ocedures and patientresponses; assist in the delivery of nursing care an d selection ofnursing priorities.Assist in the development and implement ation of general policies andprocedures to provide for the emotional and physical comfort and safetyof patients; participate in the formulation of new policies.Participate in maintaining the environment of care inclu ding equipmentand other material resources.Participate in the identifica tion of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities and assists in performance improvementactivities.Assist with control of mat erialresources and maintenance; assist inappraisal of effectiveness of material and equipment and report anyequipment malfunctions to charge nu rse.Participate in in-service education programs and other conferenceswi thin the service.Assist in the training ofnew employees.Perform other r elated duties incidental to the work described herein.
