Plant Operations Manager Full Time Days- Desert Regional
The MANAGER, PLANT OPERATIONS will provide support to the Director of Facilities Management in all aspects of the physical plant, and all buildings that are under the scope of Desert Regional Medical Center. The MANAGER, PLANT OPERATIONS will work proactively in their approach to organize and direct a comprehensive program to ensure the integrity of the physical plant and the safety of its occupants. The MANAGER, PLANT OPERATIONS must possess the skills and abilities to proactively manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Responsibilities may include: Front line oversight of several departments such as Plant Operations, Engineering, Bio-Medical Services, Grounds, Security and Safety, Construction and Hazardous Material / Waste Management and Emergency Management. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:
ï¿½ Supervise stationary engineers to achieve all assigned tasks in the Central Plant Operations
ï¿½ Demonstrates knowledge of major systems and operations
ï¿½ Boilers ï¿½ maintains and operates equipment to meet safety requirements and meet hospital needs
ï¿½ Chillers and Cooling tower systems: sees that all equipment is maintained regularly.
ï¿½ Medical Air & Vacuum Systems ï¿½ completes regular maintenance to equipment and electrical safety checks t Energy Management Systems ï¿½ oversees all phases of operation of system
ï¿½ Mechanical and Electrical Systems ï¿½ supervises operation of emergency generators and operation of all automatic transfer switchgear. Completes regular maintenance on equipment to meet OSHA requirements.
ï¿½ Code compliance and Enforcement ï¿½ ensures that all equipment is maintained to meet or exceed all local, state codes and hospital standards.
ï¿½ Maintain the departments in compliance with all applicable governing and accrediting authorities.
ï¿½ Insures that all equipment logs and documentation are filled out, signed, and dated by all stationary engineers on a daily basis.
ï¿½ Trains staff as needed to improve their current skill set and customer service skills.
ï¿½ Serves as liaison with contractors, architects, and other suppliers for construction projects.
ï¿½ Manages construction/remodel projects and advises on modifications to the physical plant.
ï¿½ Oversees the establishment and monitoring of preventative maintenance/work order programs, analyzes costs and work schedules, sets priorities and expedites operations and repairs.
ï¿½ Oversees the planning, organization and supervision of the activities in the department.
ï¿½ Assigns staff to perform duties to keep equipment clean and well maintained to include floors and walls. Instructs staff to paint when necessary and inspect a well-organized shop. This would include, not allowing broken parts, motors, valves to lay around.
ï¿½ Checks the performance of all staff ensuring that they all have good safety and housekeeping skills.
ï¿½ Works with Edison, Gas Company and architectural engineers to utilize hospital services to meet future needs.
ï¿½ Produce work schedules following SEIU union requirements.
ï¿½ Make assignments based on prioritization.
ï¿½ Responsible for hiring, training, counseling, evaluating and educating staff.
ï¿½ Accountable for 24 hour staffing.
ï¿½ Participate in various committees as needed.
ï¿½ Completes other duties as assigned to assure failsafe operation.
ï¿½ May need to drive a company vehicle during business hours.
ï¿½ State of California Steam Engineering License required (500 hp).
ï¿½ :Five yearsï¿½ experience in managing a crew to maintain a complex system of boilers, chillers, cooling tower and supervision of power systems, staff supervision, construction, utilities, and building and maintenance of equipment.
ï¿½ Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be completed at time of hire and on an annual basis thereafter.
ï¿½ Current California driverï¿½s license; a copy of the renewed license will need to be submitted upon renewal.
ï¿½ Evidence of current car insurance; a copy of the renewed car insurance will be need to submitted upon renewal.
ï¿½ Thoroughly familiar with tools, methods of trade, ordering and selecting all material preferred.
ï¿½ Ability to treat all staff with fairness and to set the policies and rules and enforce the
ï¿½ High School Diploma or GED.
ï¿½ Building technology certificate, four (4) years apprenticeship, two (2) years in cabinet shop.
ï¿½ Courses in trade school, math, steam powered equipment and safety requirements preferred
