The Bay Pines, Florida VA Healthcare System is searching for a Board Certified/Board Eligible Occupational Health, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine Physician to join their dynamic healthcare team as an Employee Health Provider.
The Employee Healthcare position is located at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center in Bay Pines FL and reports to the Chief of Primary Care of the BPVAHCS and is fully accountable for the effective and efficient management, provision and supervision of employee health programs and services.
The Employee Health Provider is responsible to the Chief of Primary Care for the provision of all employee health services within the Bay Pines Medical Center, Lee County Healthcare Center, and all Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). S/he oversees the development of employee health structure to include the implementation of employee health to meet the needs of employees; the coordination of health care emphasizing comprehensiveness within established VA and occupational health guidelines to populations undifferentiated by gender, disease and organ system, and the implementation of VA/VHA/VISN/BPVAHCS initiatives within the scope of employee healthcare services.
The physician is to assist in the direction, coordination, and supervision of clinical and programmatic efforts for the delivery of Employee Health in the CWBY Bay Pines VAMC and its community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). Physician serves as a medical provider for employees who require care within the employee health section. The physician is responsible for the management of employee patients to include examination, medical care management, coordination of consultation, referral of patients, development and operation of quality assurance and utilization programs including peer reviews.
Coordinates health care needs according to guidelines established by the Department of Veterans Affairs and sound medical practice. Measurement of clinical performance is based upon quality reviews, participation in medical center committees, and other methods. An active knowledge of the patient care processes of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Healthcare System and its clinics is maintained.
An essential element is active knowledge of the medical records system (CPRS). This shall include using the computerized medical record system for progress notes, orders, and medical record review and completion of such records in a complete and timely manner. The physician shall have knowledge of and abide by Healthcare System Bylaws, VHA Rules and Regulations and have a familiarization with existing VA specific clinical guidelines.
The Employee Health physician provides leadership to all clinical services in the provision of occupational health services, learns about, practices, and supports all existing safety and infection control practices relevant to this position; contributes to and keeps abreast of new safety practices as they are developed, and creates a work environment which is free of discrimination and harassment, and that recognizes the diversity and offers employees the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Board certified Occupational Health, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine
Occupational health and employee health experience and certification preferred.
The physician will have significant experience clinical experience in primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine or equivalent clinical background
Occupational health, MRO and CDL certifications preferred, but not required.
The successful candidate possesses excellent clinical skills, is a strong communicator and brings demonstrated people skills, care coordination and organizational management. The incumbent is expected to be committed to an interdisciplinary approach to patient care delivery. Must have the ability to prioritize and to make prioritize and to make appropriate decisions.
Salary Range: $185,000 up to $243,000 per year
Work Hours: 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday
