The Department of Pediatrics and Children’s Mercy Kansas City is conducting a national search to identify a Division Director for Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. We are seeking a dynamic, nationally recognized and accomplished Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Physician to lead a diverse team in advancing the field of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. The successful candidate must hold the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, possess a strong academic background, a demonstrated ability and clear vision to lead a prominent multi-faceted clinical, research and educational program. The successful candidate will be board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and eligible for medical licensure in the States of Missouri and Kansas. The Division Director will advise and assist in the development of patient care activities that support quality outcomes and appropriate resource utilization. The Division Director will work in collaboration with the medical staff to guide the development of efficient and cost-effective services.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is currently a 41-bed combined intensive care unit with plans to expand to 67 beds comprising a dedicated medical/surgical and cardiac ICU anticipated in the Spring of 2021. Admitting > 2,500 patients annually. The Division cares for high acuity and high complexity patients with a variety of diagnoses that include acute respiratory failure, sepsis, acute kidney injury, trauma, neurocritical care diagnoses, solid organ and bone marrow transplantation, and various post-operative diagnoses of which post-operative congenital heart disease accounts for roughly 40% of patient days.
