The Children’s Heart Center at the Yale School of Medicine is recruiting a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Medical Director. This individual will have primary responsibility for the management and expansion of a state-of-the-art Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care service and will assume a leadership role within the Children’s Heart Center, alongside the Chief of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, Chief of Pediatric Cardiology, Chief of Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia, and the Cardiac ICU Nursing Program Manager. Clinical duties will include the direct care of pediatric and adult congenital cardiac patients, pediatric heart transplant patients, and pediatric cardiac patients on mechanical circulatory support in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the main Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital campus.
The Medical Director will lead a team of dedicated cardiac intensivists and will be responsible for ongoing clinical pathway development, and unit quality and safety improvement initiatives while actively participating in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows at the Yale School of Medicine.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful clinical program leadership and have demonstrated excellence in clinical cardiac intensive care. In addition, a desire to continue an academic career in cardiac critical care is expected. Appropriate candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care and/or Pediatric Cardiology and must have dedicated training and experience in pediatric cardiac intensive care.
Appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor in the Clinician Educator or Clinical track at the Yale School of Medicine is anticipated, based on experience and qualifications.
