Phoenix Children’s Hospital has initiated a national search for an innovative leader in academic Critical Care who will serve as the Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at PCH. This appointment will include academic affiliation at University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, Creighton University, and Mayo College of Medicine and Sciences. This is a role for an academic Pediatric Intensivist who has a solid vision for teaching, clinical, and research program development and who appreciates the significance of collegial decision-making in an interdisciplinary structure.
Our Pediatric Intensive Care Team is divided among three teams managing up to 48 beds. We average about 2,000 admits and 8,000 patient days annually. We have a total of 19 budgeted FTE positions: 14 M.D. and 5 A.P.P. Over the next 10 years there will be opportunity for further growth of Intensive Care services as PCH expands Pediatric inpatient services into hospitals operated by our partner, Dignity Health.
This position represents a distinctive role for a forward-focused leader who will provide strategic direction and administrative leadership in a Division that will be created for expansion and continued development to provide critical care on the main campus. The division chief is expected to have strong experience in recruiting and recognizing individual talent that will result in the creation of a nationally recognized Critical Care team. In addition to the characteristics noted above, applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD degree and be board-certified in Pediatrics and Critical Care Medicine. They must provide documentation of achieved accomplishments, and demonstrated proof of mentorship, leadership, and scholarship in critical care.
The successful candidate must possess effective interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills. It is expected that the candidate will be eligible for academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level of our affiliated medical schools. Phoenix Children's Hospital is a freestanding 433-bed children’s hospital and the only Level I designated pediatric trauma center in Arizona.
