Full-time position in the ICU working 7p-7a. The CV/Med/Surg ICU at HaysMed excels at caring for all patients requiring intensive care in western Kansas. As a member of this team you will learn to care for a wide variety of critical ill patients. Typical patients include post-operative CABG, post fibrinolytic strokes, patients requiring Impella for ventricular assistance, trauma patients or CRRT. You will also provide care for patients who are hemodynamically unstable such as those in septic shock. We develop our ICU nurses to lead the Rapid Response Team as well as responds to trauma alerts. Our ICU consists of small group of dedicated nurses, who work with autonomy as part of the multidisciplinary team, to promote our mission of "helping people be healthy".
Full-time position on the PCU working 7p-7a. PCU is a 22-bed progressive care unit specializing in the care of post cath lab and CABG patients as well as acute stroke patients and any patient requiring an intermediate level of care at HaysMed. This unit is our Chest Pain Accredited unit as well as our dedicated stroke unit. Typically, maintaining a 4:1 nurse patient ratio, this team excels at managing acutely ill patients, post-operative recovery and preparing the patients to transition to the home or next level of care. Additionally the 207-bed facility provides medical, surgical and pediatric care along with cardiac, neonatal and intensive care units; cancer, joint and spine care, diagnostic imaging and eye surgery center; emergency department, rehabilitation, hospice and lifeline. A total of 5,885 admissions and 175,109 outpatient procedures documented last year, while the medical group's specialty and rural health clinics accounted for more than 139,039 office visits. In addition the DeBakey Heart Institute had 2,222 admissions while the Dreiling/Schmidt Cancer Institute provided services to 2,553. Last year 703 births were also recorded ...at the hospital while 13,439 patients were seen in the Emergency Department. The Center for Health Improvement, incorporating hospital-based fitness and rehabilitation programs with occupational medicine and independent physician clinics, opened it's doors five years ago and has a membership in the fitness area of 2,000.
HaysMed maintains a local market share of nearly 90%; with total primary/secondary/tertiary service are at 25%. Patient utilization figures demonstrate approximately one-half of all hospitalizations in the region are maintained in the small rural hospitals surrounded by Hays Medical Center.
