Functioning in the perioperative setting, the perioperative nurse is the RN who, using the nursing process, designs, coordinates and delivers care meet the needs of the patient. The perioperative nurse assesses, plans, intervenes and evaluates the outcome of the patient care plan. The perioperative nurse addresses physiological, sociocultural and spiritual responses of the perioperative patient. The perioperative nurse supervises ancillary personnel involved in the care of the perioperative patient.
